The Barclays WSL Hall of Fame recognises and honours the league’s biggest contributors on the pitch across players, officials and coaches. Celebrating those who have taken the Barclays WSL to its strongest ever position, the Barclays WSL Hall of Fame will be the highest individual honour the league can offer. The Barclays WSL Hall of Fame will exist online with content and assets dedicated to honouring and celebrating those who have been inducted.
In 2021, the Barclays WSL welcomed four inductees. Since then, three inductees per year have been inducted.
There is a dedicated selection panel made up of pioneers of the women’s game who decide who will be inducted into the Barclays WSL Hall of Fame. Chaired by Kelly Simmons OBE, The FA’s Director of the Women’s Professional Game, the selection panel is made up of former players, coaches and officials, alongside journalists. The following criteria has been set to help guide the selection panel on their inductee nominations:
Currently, fans are not permitted to vote in the inductee process of the Barclays WSL. However, we would encourage fans to share their favourite moments of the inductees across social media.
There are currently no plans to give fans the vote of inductees, however, this may change year on year.
No, not necessarily. Some players, coaches and officials may retire before the next inductee event, meaning they will become eligible to be inducted and therefore provide more options for the selection panel in the future.
Yes, there will be an option in coming years for members of the selection panel to be inducted. In the event the panel voted in favour of an individual to be inducted, they would be released from the panel and inducted into the Barclays WSL Hall of Fame.
The next set of inductees will be unveiled in 2024.

The Barclays WSL Hall of Fame celebrates those who have played a pivotal role in the league since its creation in April 2011. The Barclays WSL Hall of Fame will exist online rather than a physical presence. The National Football Museum Hall of Fame celebrates the entire history of English football and the English football pyramid.
The plans are for the Barclays WSL Hall of Fame to be kept online, however, there may be future discussions to present it physically.
